The Coffee Design Kit by Paolo Barichella for Mepra, with its box, glasses, spoon and booklet
Coffee Design Kit — produced by Mepra.

A full coffee ritual, where there is no barista.

Hotels, offices and convenience stores serve coffee every day, but rarely as a ritual. The Coffee Design Kit gives them one: a compact set of objects and techniques that turns an ordinary espresso — capsule espresso included — into special coffees and mini desserts, without a specialised bar.

In the kit

  • Four banded shot glasses: the bands mark the doses.
  • Four brushed-steel spoons designed by Paolo Barichella.
  • Slate coasters.
  • A booklet of Effective Cooking techniques for special coffees and mini desserts.

The kit is one of the food systems licensed by Food Lifestyle Srl (Milan, since 2017). It grows out of Paolo's earlier work on coffee as a design material — the Coffee Design Store at Macef Milano in 2011, a living store that showed how espresso becomes a design material, from the capsule machine to layered coffee desserts.
